Getting Your Home Ready for Summer

Are you and your home ready for summer?

  1. Freshen patios and porches: Get your patio furniture out of hibernation, remove tarps, bring the cushions out of storage, make sure outlets are free of debris, and clean cobwebs.

  2. Inspect window screens for tears: Have a frame re-screened or buy new screens at a local hardware or window store.

  3. Clean and inspect windows inside and out: It is a great time to clean the windows now that most of the rain is over. Inspect them to make sure there is no dry rot or other issues.

  4. Power wash outdoor surfaces: Power washing can give your whole home a facelift, from the siding to the walkways.

  5. Clean ceiling fans and overhead light fixtures: Reverse your fans to blow air down and clean off ceiling fans before using them. While the ladder is out, clean light fixtures from dust and spiderwebs.

  6. Enhance decks and yard with lighting: Now that the days are getting longer and we all want to spend more time outside, make the most of your yard by adding lighting to your landscaping and patios. Make sure to inspect all existing exterior lights to make sure they are working.
