Design Tips from Bradbury & Bradbury
WHAT IS BRADBURY & BRADBURY?
Bradbury & Bradbury Art Wallpapers is a one-of-a-kind wallpaper company that specializes in Victorian-styled wallpaper. Located in Benicia, CA and founded in 1979 by Bruce Bradbury, B&B has been providing wallpaper services across the country ever since. Their affordability and distinctive styles make their local business a must when shopping for new wallpaper.
WHY SHOP BRADBURY & BRADBURY?
What makes B&B unique is the care they put into each order. All of their business and manufacturing is done straight from their Benicia office. “All of our wallpapers are printed in our factory in Benicia, California. No outsourcing and nothing imported from other countries. We are a small company and when you call us we will answer our phone to help you with your questions, take your order, and then we print your order just for you,” said Lisa Bauer, a staff member of B&B.

WHY USE WALLPAPER?
While wallpaper can be intimidating for some, Bauer explains the value wallpaper adds to your home. "Wallpaper adds a depth and dimension to walls that paint cannot. It's also an important design element that can enhance your historic home's design and architecture."
WHERE DO YOU GET INSPIRATION?
Inspired initially by the brilliant work of Victorian designer/craftsman William Morris, B&B began by reproducing and reinterpreting some of his most popular wallpaper patterns. They also drew inspiration from other luminaries of 19th century design such as Walter Crane, P.B. Wight, and Christopher Dresser.
Their collection of printed wainscots (dados), friezes, borders, and ceiling decorations remains unique. The elaborate ornamentation of ceilings has always been a company specialty, and B&B provides custom ceiling design to artfully coordinate their patterns to fit each room.
TOP TIPS FOR FIRST-TIMERS
If you’re hesitant to use wallpaper, Bauer advises you to start small. “It’s okay to start small. Powder rooms are a great way to try out something new. And you don’t have to wallpaper everything. Some house styles are much better suited to a feature wall – pick one pattern and hang it on one wall in the room. Even Victorian rooms can have a wide range of installation, from one frieze hung between a wall and ceiling painted in coordinating colors, to the decoration of an entire room.”
